What is the Homebuyer Education Workshop?
TAP’s Homebuyer Education Workshop is a free class held by our Housing Counseling program where first-time homebuyers can learn about the homebuying process. Topics include:
- How to choose a realtor
- The lending process and types of loans
- Money and credit management
- The closing process
- And more!
How to Attend
Due to COVID-19 guidelines, our in-person Homebuyer Education classes are temporarily unavailable. As an alternative, Virginia Housing offers an online version of our curriculum. The free course covers all topics addressed in our in-person class.
On average, you can complete the online course in eight hours. You do not have to complete the course in one sitting—the system will save your progress each time. Once completed, be sure to download your certificate of completion, as TAP will need a copy for you to continue in the homeownership counseling process.
These classes will be available from now until March 31, 2021.
