Donate now to support our Super Hero Kids program!

Today TAP is launching a campaign to fund our Superhero Kids Counseling program, offering yearlong mental health services to at-risk children affected by domestic violence. These children need our help!
Superhero Kids Mental Health Counseling program provides group therapy to children referred and selected from TAP Domestic Violence Services and Sabrina’s Place, the region’s only Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Center.

These group therapy sessions will include different therapeutic techniques including talk sessions, art therapy, outdoor trips, and more.

We hope to raise $20,000 throughout April, National Child Abuse Awareness month, to contract two licensed therapists and cover program costs.

Will you take this opportunity to be at the forefront of our fundraising campaign? Your matching gift sponsorship will help us leverage our communities’ generous donations, ensuring we meet or exceed our goal.

A matching gift sponsorship is a pledge from your business to match each dollar donated up to an agreed upon amount.

When you pledge, TAP will showcase your business across our Social Media Platforms, in our Superhero Kids campaign emails to supporters, and on our website throughout April. Your level of donation will also be acknowledged in our Annual Report.

Your contribution makes a meaningful difference in our community

In 2025, TAP served 474 domestic violence survivors, including individuals and their children.
Roanoke City Police reported 1,206 DV incidents in 2025, including 100 aggravated assaults and 824 domestic simple assaults—up from 770 last year. TAP is also seeing an increase in the lethality of these crimes. Witnessing abuse is child abuse.

Studies show children exposed to domestic violence or abuse are more likely to experience low self-esteem, social withdrawal, depression, anxiety, and long-term health risks.
Rising mental health costs and long wait times are making it harder for families to access care and address trauma.

Superhero Kids Counseling provides urgently needed therapy for children in our region—now.
Your support gives children the opportunity to process trauma through group therapy, art, outdoor exploration, and more.

Invest in the well-being and future of our community by helping at-risk children
gain the tools to thrive.
