| Darren Evans,
star tailback of the VA Tech Hokies football team, was the keynote
speaker at TAP Head Start’s Fatherhood Program Kickoff on October 21st.
Darren, a father of a two-year old son, spoke of the importance of being
in his son’s life. "It goes so fast," he said, "every time I look at [my
son], he makes me want to be a better Dad." 124 parents and enrolled
children participated in the event, which included dinner, raffle for
children’s books, and opportunities to get Mr. Evans’ autograph. The
Junior League of Roanoke Valley provided volunteers. Dinner was
underwritten by private donors.
