What is the Total Action for Progress Supportive Housing Program?

The Supportive Housing Program offers rental properties at far below fair market value for households who are currently or imminently homeless, and who include at least one member who has a disability that has been verified by a medical professional. Each unit has a deposit equal to the first month's rent, and the application fee is $25 for one adult and $35 for two adults.

What are the costs?

540 Jefferson Ave., Vinton
2BR: $450/month, water and sewer included
3BR: $500/month, water and sewer included

TAP also rents two single-family homes, one in Salem and one in Roanoke County, for its permanent supportive housing program. Rent is set at 30% of the family's income.

Am I eligible for this service?

Households must include at least two (2) persons, one of whom has a disability that has been verified by a medical professional. They must be either currently homeless (residing in a shelter) or imminently homeless (about to lose their current residence, e.g., through eviction, condemnation, or victims fleeing domestic violence).
